THE PAPER FROM HELL (and back)

Sooooo, I am sorry I haven't updated you in a few days. I have just been writing THE. HARDEST. PAPER. OF. MY. LIFE. Okay, not to be a drama queen or anything but basically (with the exception of yesterday morning) my life has been research, databases, google books, Silvio Berlusconi, Beppe Grillo, Mani pulite, etc. No idea what I am talking about? Yeah, I didn't either before this paper. Don't get me wrong, the information I learned in class was really interesting and the professors really knew what they were talking about, but for the first time in my life, I went head first in the paper, completely from scratch. Normally I have NO problem writing my way through a research paper, but this one kicked my butt. Monday and Tuesday literally consisted of class and writing the paper, so I don't have any interesting pictures or fun things to write about (unless of course you want me to go into full-fledge detail about my paper). Yesterday, on the other hand was a really fun day and I took lots of pictures. I will update again after I have had a nap, but be ready for a good post. On a lighter note, PAPER OF DEATH=COMPLETED! Okay, so I am going to start with today (Monday), and rant because there comes that time in every traveler's journey that they just want to punch everyone in the face for any little thing or break down and ball like a five year old because of the most miniscule problem. Well, after four weeks and 5 countries (not to mention multiple cities), this is that time for me. First off, everything is annoying me, and I mean everything. For starters, what is happening RIGHT THIS SECOND. I came into a study room to 1. Get some peace and quiet 2. write these blogs and 3. take some time for myself.. and (of course).. in walks the cleaning lady. Now don't get me wrong, it's totally cool that she wants to clean and all, but she walks into the room and her ANNOYING ring tone (that echos through the room) goes off, she picks it up after the 5th or so ring and continues to talk in as loud of a voice as possible, in Italian, inside the study room. Italia! Italia! Days 2-8

Ohhhh kay. I have been in Italy a little over a week now and so, so much has happened. I am going to try to catch up and tell you all about it and still put some pictures into this blog so you aren't bored. After day one (Saturday), things got a lot more exciting. On Sunday , we spent the morning in Milan hanging out and getting accustomed to the area. We had met a couple of Americans in our dorm building who decided that they were going to celebrate the 4th of July with a picnic. Most of our group (13 of us) decided that we would join them at the park. We went and ate kebabs and some side dishes with them and even tried to set up a mini beer pong game. It was nice to celebrate the fourth of July even though there were no fireworks. Later that night, we had our "Welcome Dinner" at this cute little restaurant. The Duomo, Turin.. Home of the Italian Job and Winter 2006 Olympics, annnddd Last Days in Milano

Welllll this is it! My LAST DAY in Milan! I can't believe I have been in Europe for almost six weeks. Only one last stop, Venice, Italy this weekend before hopping a plane to New Amsterdam and then from their back to good ol' Washington DC. I'm going to start from Tuesday and fill you in on everything up until today! Then my Venice post will most likely be the last, when I get back to the states. Tuesday was Duomo Day. We have been in Milan for almost a month with the 4th biggest Duomo in the world. It's a very Gothic style building and extremely extravagant. A few years ago when TRL was still on, the Italia version of TRL was hosted right outside of the Duomo, soooo of course I have some pictures to show you. We had a tour of the building and there is even a pope who's crypt/tomb is in the basement of the church. You can go down and actually see his body in the glass tomb. Kinda cool.. really creepy.
